In our previous study, "Was the Flood Worldwide?", we brought forth some questions that could only be answered logically if the flood was localized in a certain region, NOT the whole earth. We indicated we would cover more on the last question presented: Where did all the different races from around the world come into being if Noah was "perfect in his generations"? A worldwide flood would mean all the different races in the world would have had to come from the genes of Noah.
The Bible states that Noah was "perfect in his generations" Genesis 6:9. The word "generations" here is the Hebrew word "TOLEDAH," and means "descent.” Noah was perfect in his descent from Adam meaning his lineage had not mixed with any other races. (See the chart in the lesson "Was Adam the first man?") It is very clear that God did not want the mixing of Noah's blood line with different races.
To accept the theory that all races descended from Adam and then started over again from Noah's genes after the flood defies reason, logic and common sense, scientific genetic law and God's law. Also, since the flood is calculated to have happened approximately 2344 B.C., it is impossible to understand just how one family being "perfect in his generations" could have produced the numerous racial types that now exist.
The Scriptures are clear that all plants and animals reproduce after their own kind.
Genesis 1:11-12, we see that God proclaimed the law of reproducing after one’s own kind from the third day of creation. “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”
Genesis 1:21,(the fifth day of creation) we see God created creatures of the water and the air, “And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”
Genesis 1:24-25, (the sixth day of creation) God created all the animals.“And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”
So we see that God set up the same law with each living thing He created, plant or animal. All things must reproduce after their own kind. But man came along and found his own way of doing things.
Man not only mixed his own genes with questionable results, he has corrupted the food chain by "scientific" methods causing plants and animals to give a bigger or "enhanced" yield. As a result, many plants can no longer reproduce on their own.
Genesis 6 records the wickedness of man, especially the mixing of the daughters of men with the sons of God. It "...grieved him in his heart". (6:6) "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." (6:8)"...Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations and Noah walked with God."(Genesis 6:9) The wickedness of man in Noah's time grieved God so much He said in Genesis 6:3 He would give man a life span of 120 years - much less than the prior generations.
The fact there were men on earth at the time of Adam and the fact the flood did not cover the entire planet earth, does not detract from the awesomeness of God's Word. What it does do is make us realize the Bible as we know it today has come through many translations which were done by man. We already know when man is involved, you can expect corruption. It also solves lots of "mysteries" and helps clarify and build our faith.
